Is the first cover really free?

Yes. The free tier includes 1 cover project with the canvas editor and free AI models. Export is watermarked — upgrade to Pro for clean, print-ready files.

What formats can I export?

PNG and PDF at 300 DPI. Sized for KDP, IngramSpark, BookPrinter, and custom dimensions. Bleed lines and trim marks included on all exports.

Can I design a full wraparound cover?

Yes. Pro and Max plans include full wraparound support — front, spine, and back cover on a single canvas. Spine width is auto-calculated from your page count.

How is this different from Canva?

BookCovers is built specifically for book covers. The AI understands genre conventions, the editor has book-specific tools (spine calculator, bleed lines, trim marks), and exports are print-ready.

Do I own the covers I create?

Yes. All covers created on paid plans come with a full commercial license. You can use them for print, ebook, audiobook, and marketing.

Do you offer India pricing?

Yes. Pro is available at India market rates — not a currency conversion.

1. What Data We Collect

Account information: Name, email address, and password (or OAuth profile) when you create a BookCovers account.

Cover content: Cover designs, prompts you write to the AI, uploaded images, fonts, project metadata (genre, trim size, page count), and any covers you submit to the marketplace.

Usage analytics: Pages visited, features used, generation counts, and export events. Anonymized — we do not log the contents of your prompts back to identifiable individuals beyond what is necessary to operate the service.

Billing data: Stripe handles payment information. We never store full card numbers — only the last 4 digits and a Stripe customer ID.

2. How We Use Your Data

Operate the Service: Generate AI covers, render the canvas editor, store your projects, calculate spine widths, and export print-ready files.

Improve the product: Aggregated, anonymized usage patterns guide which features get built next. We do not train AI models on your private cover content.

Communicate with you: Transactional emails (account confirmation, billing receipts, marketplace activity) and occasional product updates. You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails any time.

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored on Convex cloud infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. Cover images and uploaded assets are stored on Cloudflare R2 with private buckets. We follow industry-standard security practices.

4. Third Parties

We share data with a limited set of third-party services necessary to operate BookCovers:

OpenRouter / model providers — Your prompt and any input image you send to the AI are forwarded to the model provider you select (Stability AI, Black Forest Labs, OpenAI, Recraft, Ideogram). We do not control those providers’ data retention policies; review theirs separately.

PostHog— Product analytics. Anonymized usage events.

Stripe— Payment processing. Handles billing securely.

Vercel— Hosting. Serves the BookCovers web application.

Cloudflare — CDN and R2 object storage for cover images and assets.

Sentry— Error tracking for production bugs.

EmailMate (Snow Labs) — Transactional email delivery from bookos.co.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your covers, prompts, or account information with anyone outside the services listed above.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data while your account is active. If you cancel, we keep your covers exportable for 30 days, after which they are permanently deleted. Anonymized analytics may be retained indefinitely.

6. Your Rights

Export: Download every cover, asset, and metadata file from your dashboard at any time.

Delete: Request full deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us. We honor the request within 30 days.

Correct: Update your account info and cover content directly through the product.
